Angola Prison Visit

Today we made a scouting trip of sorts to the largest maximum security penitentiary in the United Sates, the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. We’re working with our friends Rex Powers & Matt Mays on a potential TV series where Angola would serve as a primary location. Angola is like a city in itself. It’s basically an 18,000 acre farm that happens to have prisoners on it – more than 5000 of them. The inmates mostly stay in dormitory style housing, with only the troublemakers spending their time in one man cells. As long as they are physically able, the majority of prisoners work in jobs ranging from mechanics and auto body techs to cattle ranchers and field hands. Several Hollywood movies have been filmed here, including Dead Man Walking and Monster’s Ball. We hope to eventually be able to add our production to the list.
